First Entry

+
in which we are introducing the service and sharing reasons, why we've created it.

Hi! We are Kirill and Oleg; we have built MoneySheets because we wanted to track our money as immigrants in the UK and US. We tried a number of apps, but main problem with them is lack of flexibility: apps with their own dashboards are great, but, given they are designed for you by someone else, they always lack flexibility that we needed.

At the same time, a simple Microsoft Excel or a Google Sheet file can answer a lot of different questions for you and show data sliced in any way you want. We have created the dashboards we use ourselves - there is a traditional “Month to Date Spend” and “Year to Date” dashboards, as well as “Net Worth” which shows your total worth dynamics monthly - feel free to use them as it is or customize for your own purposes.
We also like Google Sheets for the ease of access to raw transactions - i have 4 years of history of all my transactions in one sheet (and can calculate how much i spent on ice cream in 4 years!).

Moreover, almost none of the tools on the market support multiple currencies (like there is only USD or EUR or GBP), - which is important for us as immigrants. We also like to save money when travelling, using local currency accounts with Revolut and other neobanks. MoneySheets proudly support USD, EUR, majority of EU currencies, as well as AED (UAE), turkish lira and israeli shekel. You can consolidate all your expenses and account balances, even if they are in different currencies, into a single dashboard using one base currency (like USD or GBP). Transactions are converted into the selected currency using the exchange rate applicable on the date of each transaction.

Lastly, what we didn’t like was the constant bugs with the transactions. Not showing pending transactions is annoying; some of the apps we used only categorized the transactions in the way they wanted (not us); other apps will be slow so the “car rental” deposit, that popped back from bank account 2 weeks ago would still be seen as an expense on the app. We tried to build MoneySheets as expert users of all these apps, so we fixed most of that (and plan to fix the rest soon). We do show pending transactions in your dashboards, we will remove your car rental deposits immediately when it’s removed from your credit card statement, we will let you decide which spend categories to use and will let you automatically categorize them.

From the “who do we serve” perspective,

  • At this point (January 2025) you can connect any amount of accounts in over 2,500 banks in the EU (this is 95%+ of all banks). You can see if your bank is supported here
  • We are now adding a US provider that will add 6,000 banks in the US. Oleg (me) lives in the US and obviously wants to use the service.
  • We have already established relationships with a provider in India, that will add most of the commercial banks there.

Thanks for your attention - and we hope you will enjoy using MoneySheets! If you have any ideas on how to improve the service, please email us at help@moneysheets.io - there is nobody else behind this but us 2, so we will get back to you ASAP!
